  2011 KARATE ENGLAND NATIONAL OPEN

Sunday 6th November saw Shikon bring home yet another batch of medals! The event was even bigger this year with over 300 competitiors with a group of competitiors travelling from as far as Romania to compete.
From our branch of the association we took three golds, four silver and three bronze.
Everyone fought their socks off including newbies, Sebastian Weller, James Scollen, Jacob Watts, Archie Payne, Teddy Payne, Evan Jackson, and Danny Siddle. Archie and Teddy from Sensei Barry's club took gold and silver respectively in kata.
We were really proud with the way they all fought and with real spirit, with many fighting their way through several rounds and Jacob narrowly missing out on a bronze in kumite by losing to the winner of the section and coming in 5th. Also unlucky on the day was Connor Mulligan who didnt make it an easy match for the competitior who finally beat him!
Other students taking bronze were, Rachel Barton-Hagger in kata and in kumite, and Rob Ward in Seniors kumite. Taking silver were Caner Ahmet, Polly Goodman and Holly Scanes.
Also taking Gold were Rebecca Barton-Hagger in kata and Rob Ward in Veterans kumite which means we have three new National Champions for 2011!!
Congratulations to all who took part and if you
